This may be too trivial to qualify as an answer, but a very simple physical interpretation of the Laplace transform is if you have a radioactive decay process which starts as a mixture of components with given specific activities, the activity as a function of time will follow the Laplace transform of the mixture composition (this is completely obvious from the definition). As exponential decays are common in physics (chemistry, biochemistry, etc.) this helps motivate its importance.
